I welcome the driving test changes that are to be in place by 4th December 2017. I believe changes are needed in the driving industry to cater for the ever increasing traffic and hazards on the roads. The use of a satellite navigation during the driving test will help and aid the driver to co-ordinate their concentration more effectively, hence making them into better road users.

There are instructors out there who have worked hard and taken their professional skill to another level. This means being passionate about your job without compromise.
They thrive on job satisfaction and that means getting that first time pass "getting it right first time every time " is their motto. Anything less than a first time pass is no option for some of us. We are not here to take people's hard earned money but like to think we are earning it, and that means giving our students all of the preparations to be that safe driver for life. It’s all about quality not quantity.

Going for the Driving Test can for some students be a very nerve wrecking and challenging time. Hence it is not a good idea to rush it otherwise it can result in unexpected pressure and silly errors. Driving Test in my opinion should be booked in agreement with the Instructor, and changed according to preparations. I mean what is the use of going to a test under prepared and spending more than £100 "to see what it's like" when all you need is a mock test with your own instructor or their colleague. I have seen many students going to see what it's like and eventually the penny drops and they realise that maybe they are not prepared for the road. This can be either mentally or physically. I mean mentally not strong enough to drive under pressure whilst being assessed or physically unable to control the vehicle safely in that situation.

Preparation is the key to passing the Driving Test first time.

Why do students always make comments regarding my patience whilst delivering my lessons.  I guess it comes with 'life experiences' i reply, and try not to bore them with all the gory details.  What comes to mind is the old cliche 'patience is a virtue'.  This of course goes both ways I explain.  Learning a life skill such as driving takes time and effort along with a lot concentration.  This means having the right attitude to be able to cover each subject thoroughly without skipping anything.  Also making sure there is a plenty of practice so it does not come back to bite you in the back at a later date.

I of course try to make things interesting by keeping things varied and move straight onto another topic once a subject is independently satisfied.  I guess this is one of the main reasons why i became an Instructor in the first place because of variety in my day.  This is what keeps me ticking and challenging, as I get to teach many different 
learners who are at different levels of their driver training.
